Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar-Baroda King Helps Again.

After the death of the father, the burden of taking care of the family fell on him. The situation was bad. He had lost his job. No new job was in sight. He didn't want to go back to Baroda because the state officials were not happy at his resignation.

He was getting frustrated. Keluskar Guruji always advised him not to lose hope. One day, he brought news that Baroda King was sending some students to USA for higher studies on scholarships. He advised Bheemrao to appeal to the king. Bheemrao was relucant. But Guruji said, "Bheemrao! The king is a large hearted person. He will forgive you and understand your problem."

Bheemrao went to Baroda king he visited Mumbai. The king, Sayajirao Gaekwad recognised him. He asked, "Well well, Bheemrao Ambedkar! What are you doing?"

In reply, Bheemrao told him about his graduating, getting the job of the Lieutenant, his resignation and the father's death. And he expressed his wish to go to USA to study on scholarship.

The king said,"I am sorry to hear about your father's death. Never mind the resignation thing. So, you are very keen to study? Bheemrao, we will send you to America. Meet my Education Minister and complete the paper formalities."

Bheemrao Ambedkar had to go to Baroda to fill the forms and to sign the bond. According to the bond Bheemrao would serve Baroda state for atleast ten years after completion of the studies.

Bheemrao returned home and made preparations for the departure for USA. ON 4th June, 1913 Bheemrao Ambedkar boarded a ship bound for New York.

On 12th July, 1913 Bheemrao Ambedkar landed at New York.

Here, for the next three years he would never hear those dreadful words,"Hey! What is your caste?"
